Greg Lewis received his PhD in Mathematics through the Institute of Applied Mathematics at UBC in 2000, and went on to do postdoctoral work at the Fields Institute in Toronto. In 2003, he took up a faculty position at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) in Oshawa, Ontario, the same year the university opened. As the first Mathematics professor hired at UOIT, he played a leadership role in building the Applied Mathematics group, and in the creation of UOIT's BSc program in Applied and Industrial Mathematics, as well as its MSc and PhD programs in Modelling and Computational Science. At the same time, he built a productive research program in Applied Dynamical Systems with applications to Geophysical Fluid Dynamics. He has also served on the organizing committees of several workshops and conferences, including the Industrial Problem Solving Workshops held at the Fields Institute.
