Deadlines: CAIMS-SCMAI Annual Meeting - University of Alberta

Please note that the deadline for submission of abstracts for minisymposium or contributed talks, and poster presentations at the 2016 CAIMS Annual Meeting is February 29, 2016. The meeting will take place at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, June 26-30, 2016.  It will be held in conjunction with the Canadian Symposium in Fluid Dynamics. The submissions can be done via the website of the meeting at: http://caims2016.caims.ca/caims2016/welcome2016.html.

2017 CAIMS-Fields Industrial Mathematics

The Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society (CAIMS) and the Fields Institute would like to invite nominations for the CAIMS-Fields Industrial Mathematics Prize. This prize is to be awarded to a researcher in recognition of exceptional research in any branch of industrial mathematics, interpreted broadly. The nominee's research should have been conducted primarily in Canada.

2016 CAIMS/PIMS Early Career Award

The Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences are pleased to announce the 2016 competition for the CAIMS/PIMS Early Career Award in Applied Mathematics. The 2016 prize is to be awarded to a researcher with a Ph.D. degree conferred in 2006 or later. The prize recognizes exceptional research in any branch of applied mathematics, interpreted broadly. The nominee should hold a tenure-track position at a Canadian university and the research on which the award is based should have been conducted primarily in Canada.

2017 CAIMS*SCMAI Research Prize

The Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society (CAIMS) would like to invite nominations for the CAIMS*SCMAI Research Prize. This award recognizes innovative and exceptional research contributions in applied or industrial mathematics.

The award will consist of a prize of $1,000 and a commemorative plaque that will be presented at the CAIMS*SCMAI Annual Meeting. The recipient will be invited to give a plenary lecture at the Annual Meeting in the year of the award. A travel allowance will be provided.

2017 Cecil Graham Doctoral Dissertation Award

The Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society (CAIMS) would like to invite nominations for the 2017 Cecil Graham Doctoral Dissertation Award. This award is given to recognize and to publicize an outstanding PhD thesis in Applied Mathematics defended at a Canadian University during the calendar year prior to the year of the award.

2016 Arthur-Beaumont Distinguished Service Award

The Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society (CAIMS) would like to invite nominations for the Arthur Beaumont Distinguished Service Award. This award honours members of CAIMS/SCMAI for outstanding service to the society or to Applied Mathematics in Canada. The award is named after its first recipient, and was initiated as a means to honour Arthur for his years of unselfish service to the society. Arthur was a founding member of CAIMS/SCMAI and acted as its Secretary/Treasurer for eight years.
